HOW THE BAND WAS CREATED.

The group debuted on June 13, 2013 with the release of their debut single album 2 Cool 4 Skool with "No More Dream" as the title track. A music video for the track "We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2" was released in July.

BTS began its formation in 2010 after Big Hit Entertainment CEO Bang Si-hyuk met with group leader RM and was impressed with his rapping. ... The lineup was then finalized with Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook in 2012.

KIM NAMJOON

Kim Nam-joon (Korean: 김남준; born September 12, 1994),[1] better known by his stage name RM (formerly Rap Monster), is a South Korean rapper, songwriter, and record producer. He is the leader of the South Korean boy group BTS. In 2015, he released his first solo mixtapeRM. In October 2018, his second mixtape, Mono, was the highest charting album by a Korean soloist on the Billboard 200 chart, having peaked at 26. KIM SEOKJIN

Kim Seok-jin (Korean: 김석진; born December 4, 1992), also known by his stage name Jin, is a South Korean singer, songwriter, and member of the South Korean boy band BTS since June 2013. Kim has co-written and released three solo tracks with BTS: "Awake" (2016), "Epiphany" (2018), and "Moon" (2020), all of which have charted on South Korea's Gaon Digital Chart. In 2019, Kim released his first independent song, the digital track "Tonight". He also appeared on the 2016 Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth soundtrack alongside BTS member V. Kim has received critical praise for his falsetto and emotional range as a singer.

MIN YOONGI

Min Yoon-gi (Korean: 민윤기; born March 9, 1993), better known by his stage names Suga (stylized as SUGA) and Agust D,[A] is a South Korean rapper, songwriter and record producer. Managed by Big Hit Music, he debuted as a member of the South Korean pop idol group BTS in 2013. In 2016, he released his first solo mixtapeAgust D. In 2018, he re-released the mixtape for digital purchase and streaming. The reissue reached number three on Billboard's World Albums Chart. In 2020, he released his second solo mixtapeD-2. Commercially, the mixtape peaked at number 11 on the US Billboard 200, number seven on the UK Albums Chart, and number two on Australia's ARIA Album Chart. The Korea Music Copyright Association attributes over 100 songs to Suga as a songwriter and producer, including Suran's "Wine" which peaked at number two on the Gaon Music Chart and won best Soul/R&B track of the year at the 2017 Melon Music Awards.

JUNG HOSEOK

Jung Ho-seok (정호석), better known by his stage name J-Hope (제이홉), also stylized as j-hope, is a South Korean rapper-songwriter, composer and producer. He is a rapper and a dancer of BTS, also he is notable for his large input in songwriting and production in the discography in the group.

As a solo artist, he has released first mixtape Hope World in 2018.

PARK JIMIN

Park Ji-min (Korean: 박지민) was born on October 13, 1995 in Geumjeong DistrictBusan, South Korea.[2] His immediate family includes his mother, father, and a younger brother. When he was a child, he attended Busan's Hodong Elementary School and Yonsan Middle School.[3] During middle school, he attended Just Dance Academy and learned popping and locking dance.[citation needed] Prior to becoming a trainee, Jimin studied contemporary dance at Busan High School of Arts and was a top student in the modern dance department.[4] After a teacher suggested he audition with an entertainment company, it led him to Big Hit Entertainment. Once he passed the auditions in 2012, he transferred to Korean Arts High School, graduating in 2014.[5]

Jimin graduated from Global Cyber University in August 2020, with a major in Broadcasting and Entertainment.[6] As of 2021, he is enrolled at Hanyang Cyber University, pursuing a Master of Business Administration in Advertising and Media.[7]

KIM TAEHYUNG

V was born Kim Tae-hyung on December 30, 1995, in the Seo District of Daegu, South Korea,[3][4] and grew up in Geochang County.[5] He is the eldest of three children, with a younger brother and sister.[6] V first aspired to be a professional singer in elementary school.[7] With his father's support,[8] he began taking saxophone lessons in early middle school as a means of pursuing the career.[6][7] V eventually became a trainee for Big Hit Entertainment after passing an audition in Daegu.[9]

After graduating from Korean Arts High School in 2014,[10] V enrolled in Global Cyber University—he graduated in August 2020 with a major in Broadcasting and Entertainment.[11] As of 2021, he is enrolled at Hanyang Cyber University, pursuing a Master of Business Administration in Advertising and Media.[12]

JEON JUNGKOOK

Jeon Jung-kook (Korean: 전정국) was born on September 1, 1997, in Busan, South Korea.[2][3][4] His family consists of his parents and an elder brother.[5][4] He attended Baekyang Elementary and Middle School in Busan. When he became a trainee, he transferred to Singu Middle School in Seoul.[6] Jungkook initially had dreams of becoming a badminton player when he was young, but after seeing G-Dragon perform "Heartbreaker" on television, it influenced him to want to become a singer.[7]

In 2011, Jungkook auditioned for the South Korean talent show Superstar K during its auditions in Daegu.[8] Though he was not selected, he received casting offers from seven entertainment companies. He eventually chose to become a trainee under Big Hit Entertainment after seeing RM, now his fellow band member and leader in BTS, perform.[8] To work on his dance skills in preparation for debut, he went to Los Angeles during the summer of 2012 to receive dance training from Movement Lifestyle.[9] In June 2012, he appeared in Jo Kwon's "I'm Da One" music video[10] and also worked as a backup dancer for Glam before his debut.[11] He graduated from Seoul's School of Performing Arts, an arts high school, in 2017.[6][12] In November 2016, he decided to forgo taking the CSATs, Korea's nationwide university entrance exam.[13] As of 2020, he is enrolled at Global Cyber University, majoring in Broadcasting and Entertainment.[14

LOVE YOURSELF TEAR

Love Yourself: Tear (stylized as LOVE YOURSELF  'Tear') is the third Korean studio album (sixth overall) by South Korean boy band BTS. The album was released on May 18, 2018 by Big Hit Entertainment. It is available in four versions and contains eleven tracks, with "Fake Love" as its lead single. The concept album explores themes relating to the pains and sorrows of separation.[4] On May 27, 2018, the album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, earning 135,000 album-equivalent units becoming BTS' highest-charting album in a Western market at the time, as well as the first Korean album to top the US albums chart and the highest-charting album by an Asian act.[5]

LOVE YOURSELF ANSWER

ove Yourself: Answer (stylized as LOVE YOURSELF 結 'Answer') is the third Korean-language[A] compilation album[6] by South Korean boy band BTS. The album was released on August 24, 2018 by Big Hit Entertainment and is available in four different versions: S, E, L, and F. The album contains twenty-five tracks (twenty-six for digital version), including seven new songs, with the track "Idol" serving as the lead single. Most tracks are from Love Yourself: Her, and Love Yourself: Tear, including some remixes. The album debuted at number one in South Korea, Canada, Japan and the United States, becoming BTS' second chart-topping album in the US market

BTS AT MAMAS(MELON MUSIC AWARDS)

At the 2019 Melon Music Awards, BTS became the first group to win all daesangs at a year-end award show with their sixth EP Map of the Soul: Persona and lead single "Boy with Luv" (2019).[5] The group also won all four daesangs at the 2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards, making them the artist with the most daesang wins in Mnet Asian Music Awards history, and the artist with the most daesang wins overall.[6][7] In 2020, BTS further extended this record when they again won all daesangs at both the 2020 Melon Music Awards and the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards.

The Mnet Asian Music Award for Artist of the Year (올해의 가수상) is a daesang (or grand prize) award presented annually by CJ E&M Pictures (Mnet). It was first awarded at the 8th Mnet Asian Music Awards ceremony held in 2006; the five-member boyband group TVXQ won the award, and it is given in honor for artists with artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall excellence in the music industry.[1]

Since 2014, China UnionPay holds the naming rights for this award.[2]

  DNA (FIRST SONG THAT REACHED 1 BILLION VIEWS)

DNA" is a song recorded in two languages (Korean and Japanese) by South Korean boy band BTS. The Korean version was released on September 18, 2017 as the lead single from the band's fifth extended play Love Yourself: Her (2017) by Big Hit Entertainment. The Japanese version of the song was released on December 6, 2017 by Universal Music Japan as a triple A-side single album that included "Mic Drop" and a new, original song "Crystal Snow", both also in Japanese. Both versions were written by "Hitman" Bang, Supreme Boi, KASS, Suga, RM, Pdogg, with the latter of the six solely handling production. A "Pedal 2 LA" remix of the track appears on the band's third compilation album, Love Yourself: Answer (2018). An EDM and pop song, the lyrics talk about fate and love at first sight.

The song received generally favourable reviews from music critics, who praised its production, sound, and the band's musical direction. It was also likened to the works of Selena Gomez, Shawn Mendes and Avicii. Commercially, the Korean version of "DNA" debuted at number two on the Gaon Digital Chart and number one on the Billboard K-pop Hot 100. It has since sold over 2.5 million digital copies in South Korea as of February 2019. The song peaked at number 67 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and at number 90 on the UK Singles Chart, becoming the band's first entry on both the charts. The Japanese version debuted and peaked at number one on the Oricon Singles Chart, becoming the 13th best-selling single of 2017 in Japan. The song was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ). "DNA" received several accolades, including a nomination for Song of the Year at the 15th Korean Music Awards and the 19th Mnet Asian Music Awards.

The music video was directed by YongSeok Choi and premiered simultaneously with the release of the song. The video features the band performing complex choreography in various CGI-enhanced settings. Following the release of Love Yourself: Her, BTS promoted the song with televised live performances on several South Korean music programs, including M! Countdown, Music Bank, and Inkigayo. The band's US television debut performance of "DNA" at the 2017 American Music Awards received positive reviews from critics. It was also included on the setlist of their Love Yourself World Tour (2018–19).

BOY WITH LUV (SECOND SONG THAT REACHED 1 BILLION VIEWS)

"Boy with Luv" (Korean: 작은 것들을 위한 시; RR: Jageun geotdeureul wihan si,[A] lit. "A Poem for Small Things"[7]) is a song recorded by South Korean boy band BTS, featuring American singer Halsey, as the lead single for their sixth extended play Map of the Soul: Persona. It was released on April 12, 2019 by Big Hit Entertainment.[8] The song's music video was the most viewed online music video in 24 hours at the time, garnering over 74.6 million views within its first day of release. On June 24, 2019, Billboard announced that the song had been certified Platinum by the RIAA.[9] "Boy with Luv" held the record for the song with the most music show wins after the 2000s in South Korea with 21 wins, until the record was broken by "Dynamite".[10]

On July 3, 2019, the Japanese version of the song was released as a double A-side single alongside an original Japanese track titled "Lights" under Universal Music Japan.[1

DYNAMITE(THIRD SONG THAT REACHED 1 BILLION IN 7 MONTHS)

"Dynamite" is a song recorded by South Korean boy band BTS, released on August 21, 2020, through Big Hit Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment. It is the band's first song fully recorded in English.[2] The song, written by David Stewart and Jessica Agombar and produced by Stewart, [3] is an upbeat disco-pop song with elements of funk, soul, and bubblegum pop, and takes influence from 1970s music—it features snapping handclaps, echoing synths, and celebratory horns. Intended to soothe listeners during the COVID-19 pandemic, the song talks about joy and appreciation for the little things that make life valuable. Upon release, "Dynamite" received positive reviews from music critics, with praise towards its catchiness and broadly appealing retro sound. It garnered the band their first Grammy nomination at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and made them the first Korean pop act to be recognized by the Recording Academy.

"Dynamite" debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming the band's first number-one single in the United States and making BTS the first all-South Korean act to top the Hot 100. The song sold 265,000 downloads in its first week, marking the biggest pure sales week since Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do" (2017). "Dynamite" stayed atop the Hot 100 for three total weeks. On Spotify, "Dynamite" debuted with 7.778 million streams, marking the biggest opening-day for a song in 2020. Additionally, "Dynamite" peaked at number one on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts, topping the latter for three consecutive weeks. The song charted in the top 10 in 25 different countries and topped the charts in Hungary, Israel, Lithuania, Malaysia, Scotland, Singapore, and South Korea. The accompanying music video reached 1 billion views on April 12, 2021.

A.R.M.Y" stands for "Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth" and it carries quite some meaning behind it, given that "Army" is associated with the military, body armor, and how those two things are always together, the fandom name basically means that fans will always be together with BTS.

ONE OF THEIR BIGGEST CONCERTS(WEMBLEY STADIUM)

Never let it be said that BTS don't get caught up in the moment. The superstar K-poppers made the most of their landmark headlining gig at London's Wembley Stadium on Saturday night (June 1), nodding to the venue's rich history in a pre-show press conference, where they also let it be known that they are totally down for a Coldplay or Paul McCartney collaboration if that's a thing.
